  • Maximum Term, part-time role until 30 June 2026
  • 15 hours per fortnight (7.5 hours on Tuesdays – School Term only)
  • Based in Rockingham

 

About the Role

 

Ngala is seeking for a suitable candidate to work as a Parent Support Worker at our Rockingham Teens Parents - NAPPY.
Our preferred applicant will be experienced in working with families and be able to identify areas of need.

The successful candidate will be passionate and have the ability to provide quality early childhood support as part of Ngala’s Community Service programs.

As a Parent Support Worker, your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

 

  • Strive for the achievement of Ngala’s vision in line with the mission and values of the current organisational Strategic Plan.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in the workplace and excellence in customer service.
  • Provide learning opportunities for parents and their 0 to 5 year olds, in line with Ngala’s evidence-based practices.

 

About You

 

The successful candidate will be highly organised and have strong communication skills together with the following:

  • Experience in working with families with young children and groups of parents and their children.
  • Experience in working with vulnerable families and ideally (although not essentially) exposure to working with families within the child protection system.
  • Qualifications in Early Childhood or equivalent related field are desirable, but not essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to create developmentally appropriate play activities which meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of children from 0-5 years
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Proven ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development 0-5 years and early parenting.
  • Ability to partake in reflective practice and to be self-directed
  • Understanding of strength-based practice.
  • Understanding of principles of child initiated/child focused approaches.
  • Understanding of the principles of the early years learning framework.

If successful, you will need to possess a current WA driver's licence, Working with Children Check, and satisfactory National Police Clearance obtained within six months. 

It is essential that you meet the above criteria and are permitted to work and remain in Australia with no limitations to be considered.
